Feng Shui Tip: The Dangers of “Excessive Yin Formation” in your Home.

Sometimes things go wrong for no apparent reason. Everyone is in good health and then suddenly sickness descends on the household. Quarrels flare up at home and work without foundation. Friends become adversaries, accidents occur and your stress level is high. Older people may have sudden bouts of arthritis, back aches etc. What is going on?

Your home may be suffering from what is called “Excessive Yin Formation”. You see, yin forces or yin chi can be very harmful when it dominates the energy of yang spaces like your living or dining areas where you spend a lot of time. It also may affect you in the workplace. You must recognize what’s happening and don’t let yin energy dominate any space in your home … it must be kept to a minimum. Think about your home and how the chi flows. Maybe your son or daughter has gone off to college and their bedroom is dark with the curtains pulled tightly closed, and your unoccupied guestroom is closed and stuffy. These are areas where excessive yin chi can build up.

Open the windows for yang energy
Open the windows for yang energy

The good news is that Excessive Yin Formation can be quickly removed and/or transformed into yang energy. Do this by giving your home an “energy bath”; open the doors and windows frequently permitting the sunshine, breeze and fresh yang energy to enter. Play music, have a party and let the pets run freely to raise yang chi. Keep accent lights on, such as: Himalayan Salt Lamps, strings of lights and small table or floor lamps.

Many people suffer from Excessive Yin Formation at work. This may be due to unhappiness from gossip, jealousy or someone reporting false information to your boss to make you look bad. The yin forces just become too dominant. You need more yang energy. If you can, display a picture or a small statue of a rooster painted in red and gold to peck away your problems. The fire and metal energy overcomes the quarrelsome energy. You can also use a Laughing Buddha in gold and red colors. Make sure the image or statue is facing the direction of the person causing you trouble!

The most important thing to remember in feng shui is Balance! Keep yin and yang in balance but create more yang rather than yin.

Epilepsy in Dogs and CBD for Treatment

CB Receptors in your dogs body
For most dogs, epilepsy is a lifelong disease requiring a regimented routine of care and treatment as prescribed by your veterinarian. A canine seizure is the result of abnormal electrical impulses in the brain which lead to sudden but short-term disturbances in your dog’s behavior and physical movements.

Dogs with idiopathic epilepsytypically have their first seizures between the ages of 6 months to 6 years. Though idiopathic epilepsy can occur in any breed, it is considered an inheritable disease in many breeds and in some breeds a genetic basis has been identified. Therefore, dogs diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy should not be used for breeding.

Commonly affected breeds include:

Labrador retrievers
Golden retrievers
Poodles
Keeshonds
Beagles
German shepherds
Dachshunds
Irish setters
Cocker spaniels

Symptoms
Prolonged seizures lasting more than 5 minutes or two or more consecutive seizures without full recovery are referred to as status epilepticus. This is a true emergency and you should seek immediate veterinary care for you pet. Two or more seizures in 24 hours are referred to as cluster seizures and are an indication for beginning anti-seizure medication.

It may be difficult to watch your pet have a seizure but most are of short duration and cause no permanent harm. Avoid being bitten by keeping your hands away from your pet’s mouth during a seizure. If it can be done safely, provide padding and move your pet away from stairs to prevent injury.
Treatment

Epilepsy can usually be managed with anti-convulsant drugs. If your veterinarian determines that your dog’s epilepsy is idiopathic, one or more of the following medications may be prescribed:

~ Phenobarbital helps reduce the frequency of your dog’s seizures and is the most prescribed medication for dogs with idiopathic epilepsy. It is generally a well-tolerated drug.

~ Potassium bromide is another seizure medication that may be added to your dog’s treatment, if she does not respond well to phenobarbital alone.
CBD ( Cannabidiol) as an alternative Treatment
For pets suffering from seizures, the use of Cannabidiol has been shown to be an effective, non-toxic form of treatment. Statistically speaking, a survey conducted by AHVMA that relied on pet-owner testimonials reported that between 61.8% and 95% of pet owners endorsed the benefits of treat products laced with CBD. According to another study titled, “Pharmacokinetics of cannabidiol in dogs,” researchers concluded that CBD has properties that can prevent convulsant and epileptic symptoms.

Despite the studies and testimonials, it perhaps comes as no surprise that the use of CBD to treat pet health issues is being met with skepticism and concern. However, some of these concerns can perhaps be refuted when taking a closer look at CBD and where it comes from.

Though coming from the cannabis plant, CBD is the non-psychotropic hemp cultivar that is high in fiber and CBD, and low in THC. The latter (THC) actually has the potential to be harmful for pets. According to an article posted by Hawthorne Vet, the use of THC can bind to highly responsive receptors in a pet’s brain, leading to “static ataxia,” or behaviors that include the animal drooling, urinating excessively, and/or disorientation. Furthermore, if your pet is administered a product or drug that contains too much THC, there exists a risk for toxicity. Therefore, when considering the use of CBD on pets for health issues, it is important to avoid the use of THC and rather look for a product that contains only CBD, derived from hemp.

When opting to utilize Cannabidiol to treat your pet’s seizures, it is important to start with the lowest dose possible and only then gradually increase the dosage, if necessary. Calculating the starting dose for your pet involves taking your pet’s weight in kilograms, determining the concentration of the CBD-product being used, and dividing the dosage across multiple administrations throughout the day.

DOSES of CBD
In general, starting doses of CBD for pain and arthritis is 1 mg/10 lbs of body weight once to twice daily. I started my last dog on this dose to provided symptomatic pain relief for mouth cancer. I eventually increased his dose to 2 mg/10 lbs twice daily and he responded extremely well.
So for pet seizures, we would be looking at a dose of  2 mg/10 lbs a day at the low end or 10 mg/10 lbs daily.
1. Talk to your vet! Your dog needs to stay on current ant-seizure meds and slowly wean off.
2. I would start for the 1st week on the low dose of 1 mg/10 lbs a day then increase to twice a day by the end of the week.
3. Then it’s a matter of lowering the conventional medications and seeing if the seizures are decreasing.
4. It may mean getting up to the higher doses of 2-5 mg/10 lbs a day.

CBD Hemp Oil Bulletproof Coffee! CBD Hemp Oil and Coconut Oil: How MCT Oil Acts as a Carrier for Cannabinoids.

CBD Hemp Oil Bulletproof Coffee

It seems like everyone these days is discussing the benefits of CBD Hemp Oil and looking for information about the best way to add this powerful supplement to their routines.

A common question people ask is in regards to the most efficient way to take CBD oil so that the cannabinoids in the oil have the easiest time interacting with the body. It is here that coconut oil and CBD oil’s relationship comes into focus.

Cannabinoids are fat soluble, meaning they break down and are stored in fat rather than water. Because of this trait, cannabinoids are most effective when consumed with fat, increasing their bioavailability. However, it appears that the type of fat matters.

Saturated fats are important carriers for cannabinoids to be absorbed into the body. Coconut oil contains saturated fat at levels close to 80%, giving cannabinoids the fat cells it needs to move through the body, encouraging faster processing and use by the endocannabinoid system.

Specifically, coconut oil contains medium-chain triglycerides or fatty acids. Using coconut oil or other products that contain medium-chain triglycerides (MCT oils) triggers a relatively rapid release of cannabinoids when compared to other oils because MCT oils are directly metabolized into energy by the liver. This means that your body can burn those fats and put them – and the cannabinoids they hold – to use right away.

First thing in the morning, I apply CBD Hemp Oil under my tongue. I hold the CBD Hemp Oil under my tongue, without swallowing for at least 30 seconds. Then I prepare my morning cup of hot coffee. However, my coffee is not a normal cup of coffee. I add 1 tablespoon of coconut MCT oil, 1 tablespoon of grass feed unsalted butter with just a little bit of coconut milk to the fresh brewed coffee, then stir it up until it is blended. I use an electric stir stick to blend all the ingredients together. Add any additional flavorings by sprinkling cinnamon, turmeric, or ginger on top. Then drink up… enjoy your delicious and healthy cup of coffee!

I call this my ‘CBD Bullet Proof Coffee’.  I don’t add the CBD oil into the coffee because it is more effective if you add it directly under your tongue so that it absorbs faster through the mucous membrane, instead of being absorbed through your digestive system. So absorb the CBD Hemp Oil first, then follow that with the bullet proof coffee.

What a powerful way to start the day!

Feng Shui Tip: Your Garden

Feng shui masters often recommend plants to help diffuse bad chi and energize good feng shui. If you are wondering why, it’s because plants represent wood – the only one of the five elements that has life. That’s why garden feng shui is so important, you must ensure that the areas surrounding the exterior of your home are auspicious. This will far surpass anything you do on the inside!

So, if you live in a home that is surrounded by a garden, be sure it is well cared for, filled with lush and healthy plants and that it has a nice balance of light and shade. In doing so, you will enjoy good fortune. But, if your garden is left untended and weeds and underbrush begin to take over, the once happy energy will dissolve and yin energy will dominate. Your health, prosperity and happiness will certainly suffer.

Create a lush garden

Note that you don’t need a large garden to attract the precious yang energy that will create a healthy growth of wealth for you. City gardens, apartment and rooftop gardens can also be designed to effectively capture the best energy even with space constraints!

Most of the good garden feng shui depends on the plants that you select. When you are choosing the plants for your garden, it’s important to keep balance in mind. In addition to lots of healthy flowering plants with happy yang energy, you will also need some shady areas and leafy trees to maintain yin and yang harmony. When we speak of “balance” it doesn’t necessarily mean that yin and yang forces must be equal – rather it means that both must be present and that no area of the garden is either too yin or too yang.

Choose succulents like the jade plant
Choose succulents like the jade plant

Good feng shui plants to consider are succulents, such as the jade plant with thick water-filled leaves. The money plant is also a good choice (its botanical name is Philodendron scandens). This one needs plenty of water and doesn’t do well in strong sunlight. If you are selecting flowers consider the peony, chrysanthemum or flowering bulbs like the narcissus or lilies. For longevity consider planting bamboo or pine trees and go for the smaller variety.

Orange trees symbolize good fortune
Orange trees symbolize good fortune

Fruit trees are definitely auspicious so try for a few in your garden area if possible. The peach tree is a wonderful choice as is the orange tree – a popular symbol of good fortune. If you have a pair of orange or lime trees it is considered extremely good feng shui and they are best grown within view of the main front door. If your garden is in the back of your home, then within view of your back door.

Always keep your garden well cared for with love and attention to enjoy a good life and extremely wonderful feng shui!

Happy gardening!

Is CBD Hemp Oil Safe During Pregnancy?

Safe for Pregnancy

The eureka moment for many pregnant women would be finding out the positives of cannabis. Since discoveries are made related to cannabis and its constituents, and their positive response in the human body, many people including mothers, are more interested in knowing the physiology behind cannabinoids and their optimizing bodily functions.

Yes, cannabis can be positive for your body too! Regardless of its negative popularity, the cannabinoids from the cannabis sativa plant are a non-psychoactive component that does not create “high” feeling in its user.

The more you deeply go through the plant, the more you will get to know that the real culprit – yes the element that makes you high and creates downregulating feeling in the human body is Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive constituent of the plant.

Cannabidiol or CBD extracted from the leaves of the cannabis, on the other hand, is scientifically proven safe.

The chemical compound in this element has immense therapeutic properties that can heal some diseases with minimal or no adverse effects, hence legal!

Additional to the amazing discoveries, cannabinoids found in cannabis also interact with endocannabinoid neurotransmitters densely present in CNS and other organs in the body.

This interaction of endocannabinoid system and cannabinoid receptors fine-tune the bodily systems and optimize the crucial functions like mood, energy, immune response, appetite, reproduction, etc.

So does cannabinoids similar to cannabis, also found in breast milk?

As discussed above, the human body is full of endocannabinoids which react with externally ingested cannabinoids.

This crucial interaction in the human body optimizes functions, protect cells against viruses, bacteria, cancer and other malignancies.

Similarly, human breastmilk also has an abundance of these endocannabinoids, which is rather a special type of neuromodulatory lipid.

A research took place in the year 2004, published in the Journal of Pharmacology stated that endocannabinoids have distinctive influence in pre and postnatal development.

The investigation took more than 30 years but came up with the positive response that all human born with cannabinoid receptors have the presence of these powerful elements in bovine and human milk also.

The study of 2004 stated that detection of endocannabinoids was noticeable in maternal milk and the CB1 receptor that develops before 14 weeks of gestation, basically teaches newborn after parturition how to eat, activating oral motor musculature while stimulating suckling process.

All this makes sense when we consider that if cannabinoids were not in the breast milk, a newborn would not necessarily have developed the desire of eating, nor they would know how to eat which could cause malnourishment.

It’s hard to believe, but logically the process is similar to an adult who smokes cannabis develop a strong desire for more.

As newborn who naturally receives cannabinoids through the mother feed develops the hunger mechanism that promotes growth and development.

Fortunately, cannabinoids also play a fundamental role in the conception and successful pregnancy. In research reported in 2006 from Pediatrics Department at Vanderbilt University identified endocannabinoids as “an emerging concept in female reproduction.”

Their research discovered a cannabinoid sensor system to impact important steps during early pregnancy.

According to embryology, a newly fertilized embryo must attach itself to the lining of the uterus. If failed to do so, the umbilical cord would not form, and no pregnancy will take place.

Hence, for the embryo to attach itself to the uterine lining, a particular amount of specific endocannabinoid known as anandamide, is essential.

An abundant amount of anandamide is crucial as too less, or high anandamide presence would not let cannabinoids activate a certain number of CB1 receptors that in return trigger the fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterus safely.

Not only cannabinoids are essential in conception, but they also play a significant role in other aspects of pregnancy as well.

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology published a study in 2004, stating that “both exogenous and endogenous cannabinoids administer a vigorous and direct relaxant impact on human pregnant myometrium, which is mediated through the CB1 receptor.”

Famous Dr. Melanie Dreher studied pregnant women who were active users of cannabis till they delivered and continued her research on the babies one year after birth.

She documented that babies of the women who had used cannabis during pregnancy were superior, confident, made eye contact quickly, socially more responsive, alert, less irritable, easier to engage and automatically stable.

The Doctor was expecting to see a major difference in the babies as far as their neurological tests and birth weight, but there was no variability whatsoever.

Dr. Dreher was able to conclude that there were no possible links between the exposure of cannabis during pregnancy and development of the babies.

Usage of cannabis during pregnancy helped some women to relieve nausea, fatigue and improve appetite, they also found relief from depression and feelings of desperation.

According to another follow-up research conducted in California also documented that there were no developmental problems in the babies whom mothers used cannabis during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

In conclusion, we would like to draw the attention of our readers that cannabis during pregnancy is particularly safe and indicates the positive influence it holds from conception to the day of baby’s birth, it is advised only to use hemp extracts during this crucial stage of life.

Keeping in mind that pregnant women are prone to allergies, it is recommended to seek advice and help from a health professional before CBD consumption.
