Christopher Vane co-founded Little Bear Sanctuary, a nonprofit farm animal sanctuary in Punta Gorda, FL, in honor of his late mother Ursula (which translates to “little bear” in Latin). They shared a common passion for animals and Ursula often dreamed of providing neglected, once-abused animals a safe haven.

While originally from New York, Chris surprisingly started off with a career in human healthcare, eventually landing in Florida working as a real estate broker. When he met Randy, everything changed…for the better, that is! Their relationship sparked a new passion to live each day with purpose. After they got married, their desire to provide a better world for farm animals was greatly amplified. Together, Chris and Randy followed through on Ursula’s dream and established the Little Bear Sanctuary in 2017. Now, 160+ rescued farm animals call Little Bear Sanctuary home, and – thanks to Christopher’s compassion and dedication – each animal has been given an opportunity to experience love and freedom.

Little Bear Sanctuary provides a permanent home for farm animals that have been abandoned or can no longer be cared for by the owner in order to allow them to live out the remainder of their lives in a cruelty free environment. We are committed not only to a vegan lifestyle but the essential education of pigs as pets. Our animals are never kept in cages or pens and are free to roam in their natural habitat.

Joey’s Legacy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose purpose is advocacy for our companion animals. We have assembled some of the brightest minds in the area of veterinary medicine, grief counseling and animal law that assist those that come to us with claims of veterinary negligence that cause the permanent injury or death of their loved ones. A new book, “Joey’s Legacy-Truth and Integrity in Veterinary Medicine-Volume One”, by best-selling author JL Robb, was released in February 2021. JL’s new release “Joey’s Legacy-Truth and Integrity in Veterinary Medicine-Volume Two” will be released in the October/November 2021 time period.

Joey’s Legacy formed October 2020. We have assisted over 400 human victims of veterinary negligence and malpractice. Currently 2,700 members. Add 75-100 new members per month. Most that join us state they’ve never had a bad experience with a vet, and they joined to learn of the experiences of others who have.

We are committed not only to a vegan lifestyle but the essential education of pigs as pets. Our animals are never kept in cages or pens and are free to roam in their natural habitat.

Your Vegan Home is a home-based, micro-bakery located in Lancaster, California. They sell vegan treats with a bit of 80s nostalgia to keep a smile on your face. Favorite flavors are transformed into song titles, movie characters, and sayings. And why not? It’s a way to express Debbie’s love of baking and the decade of her childhood.

But it’s not all food and music at YVH. As a professionally trained interior designer, she can’t help but throw some design into the mix too. It may be kind of kooky, but she has never been one to limit herself to just one thing.

Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

190g (1 1/2 C) all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. kosher salt

100 g (1/ 2 C) light brown sugar (organic, vegan-friendly)

74 g ( 1 1/4 C + 2 T) granulated sugar (organic, vegan-friendly)

113 g (1/2 C, 1 stick) vegan butter, melted

6- 8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate, chopped (can sub with wafers or chocolate chips)

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

1 T neutral oil ( I like grapeseed)

2 T water (room temp.)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F

1. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-high heat (or use a microwave), set aside.

2. In a large bowl, add flour, baking soda, salt, and sugars. Mix with a whisk until well combined, then add chocolate chunks or chips- whisk again.

3. Add melted butter, water, and oil and mix with a spatula.  

4. Cover and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes ( or more).

5. Scoop or spoon cookie dough onto a lined cookie sheet and bake for 10-14 minutes.  

6. Let cool for 5-10 minutes, then eat!
